I wasn't as into Kong: Skull Island as everyone else seemed to be, and I actually prefer the 2005 Peter Jackson King Kong movie.
Therefore, I'm hoping Godzilla kicks Kong's arse in this, as I just have no attachment to this shared monster universe's version of Kong. 'Unpopular opinion', I know.

Btw it's great it's doing so well. Hopeful bright future for cinema. Now Dune is seemingly going to be released exclusively on the silver screen

I'm not super into either film, but at least Jackson was just trying to make a good movie and wasn't injecting politics into Kong 2005, unlike the director of Skull Island.

I wanted to rewatch Peter Jackson's King Kong (as I hadn't watched it in SO long), put in the Extended Edition...and my DVD/Blu-ray player wouldn't play it. I tried several times and it just wouldn't even start. I then tried the 'extra features' disc and it started, but was all glitchy. So that was disappointing. I ended up calling the place I go to for DVDs/Blu-rays and luckily they had one copy of the Extended Edition left on Blu-ray. I was AMAZED, since nothing EVER goes right for me - this was an unusual bit of luck for me. Anyway, the Blu-ray worked perfectly fine (and even better, the movie wasn't split up over two discs like the DVD version was). I still prefer this movie (yes, even the extra lengthy Extended Edition) to Kong: Skull Island. While admittedly there *is* padding, it's not nearly as bad as his Hobbit films, and I actually remained interested in this movie, whereas Skull Island didn't really ever interest me that much. Also, I like Andy Serkis' version of Kong more than the one portrayed by Toby Kebbell in Skull Island. This isn't a knock against Kebbell. I think he does a decent job, but I just feel more 'attached' to the Andy Serkis' Kong, and on the whole am just more invested in the 2005 film.

But… have you seen the original? It’s awesome. No, I haven't watched the randy monkey version. Drop everything and watch it tonight. It’s got some serious Knog action. 1930s style!
