I’m very excited about this.
I know I predicted that Sam and Bucky wouldn’t be heavily involved in the movies going forward, but I am very happy to be wrong.
This also kind of confirms my feeling that the streaming shows are not essential. I know that sentiment is not shared by all and has caused controversy among myself and LDM/Welbibibibers, but I’m convinced of it now. The good stuff will always be on the big screen. I’m glad people enjoy the shows but I am now completely fine skipping them at this point.
I wonder if Zemo will return as the main villain? I’d love to see that purple MASKY MASK on the silver screen.

It'll be a continuation of the storyline they've started with The Falcon and the Winter, just as Doctor Strange 2 is going to continue Wanda's story from Wandavision. Cap 4 is even going to be made by the same people who made The Falcon and the Winter Soldier. That is a very important and telling detail right there.

I think of them as an optional prequels though. They add to the experience but aren’t strictly essential. People already know Sam is Cap from the end of End Game. As I understand it there isn’t much else left hanging. Sharon as Power Broker will get revealed again because no one living knows who she is. Bucky is still the same. Flag dudes are dead. Zemo is back in the Raft where he started. ECT.

As for the Flag-Smashers, the initial organization might have been brought down, but I think their mad ideals are going to survive in other villains when you consider how much support the movement got before the end.

Well I can’t deny that the series will connect to the movie. For me the takeaway though is that Sam’s big adventure as Cap will be on the big screen. They could’ve just made it season two, but they didn’t. To me that says that the movies are still the main driving force of the saga.

I wonder how that’s going to work. There’s only so many stories to use. I assume they’re probably hoping for a film trilogy with Sam.

They have the entire backlog of Captain America stories dating back to World War II, really. I mean, Steve was Captain America when The Flag Smashers came onto the scene in the comics, so they're obviously willing to substitute in Sam for adaptations of older stories.

I wonder if they really will do a whole trilogy of movies with Sam. And how long Bucky will stick around.
