Thoughts?
The Marvels is a big one. I guess it’s a team up movie now? I wasn’t expecting such a big rebrand.

Also, I hope it can be about a team of strong characters who happen to be female without a bunch of HashtagWoke stuff forced into it.

I think Marvel Studios knows it can't afford to alienate any of its audience.

Is her power set really exactly the same as Reed Richards?

She's basically the only good thing to come out of Perlmutter's attempt to erase the Mutants and replace them with The Inhumans back before Marvel got the X-Men back. Her power is similar to Reed's, yes. I'm not talking about just her, though, I think Captain Marvel 2/The Marvels is going to introduce the various Miss Marvels they've had over the years.

I just read up about this on Wikipedia. I didn’t realize Ms Marvel was a legacy character. I kind of like this more now. I wonder how Kamala will obtain her powers. Will they keep the comic origin? Make her a mutant? Maybe a new origin using the Skrulls or Kree?

Making her a Mutant would be the simplest way to get from Point-A to Point-B because I can't see how the circumstances that led to her getting her powers in the comics working the MCU. And it'd also hilarious considering the business-motivated story decisions that led to her existence.

Papa 'Biz' Legba What say you? Carol Dancers and Kamala Dancers together at last? (They should have called this movie “The Dancers”)

Anyone interested in Black Panther?
For me it will always be a case of What Might Have Been. I’m even wondering if that was going to be the original title. I doubt it.

I would’ve been so hyped to see Dr Doom or Namor introduced in BP2 but now I’m hoping they aren’t in it.

If it's going to become common practice to permanently retire a character every time their actor croaks, things are gonna get very restrictive in TV and film.

I think it’s quite hypocritical too because they aren’t even delaying the movie. They clearly still want to profit off of all this.

Plus Rogue for good measure. I have a feeling that Carol temporarily losing her powers might be what facilitates her finding Kamala and becoming reacquainted with Monica to fight some threat in her place before reclaiming her powers in the third act and helping out with the additional assistance of Rogue.

I think they’ll save Rogue for later and have her rivalry with Carol be a centerpiece of an Avengers v X Men movie or something.

There are already a lot of rumors about Rogue being in The Marvels floating around, and have been for a while now. The pieces do fit, since Carol seems to prefer to fly solo as a superhero based on her two appearances so far. Something disrupting her usual routine would be enough to make her seek more help than she might otherwise look for. I'm spitballing, sure, but the pieces to together to form a picture that makes sense to me.

I’d like to see those two races developed more. Especially the Kree, who we still don’t really know all that much about.

Honestly, I'm still really hoping for interquels between Captain Marvel and the first Guardians of Galaxy. Sometime between the ending of CM and the beginning of Guardians Vol. 1, someone took the Kree down enough notches that they went from unstoppable Greek/Roman-style intergalactic conquerors to being forced to make peace treaties at great reluctance. And somewhere between CM and Guardians Vol. 1, Ronan went from a deeply calm Executioner showcased in the former to the radicalized psycho we meet in the latter. There is a potentially fascinating story there and Marvel Studios had better not deprive us of it.

Since The Marvels is in present day I’m not sure what could fill that gap. If the Kree do factor into this movie then it’ll be awkward trying to explain how/why they are in such a different position in their galactic political position. Honestly it just makes me once again question the wisdom of putting the first Captain Marvel movie in the 90s. It creates a lot of disconnect between that story and present day Carol/Kree/Skrulls and throws away some great opportunities.

I think it means there's a plan to bridge the gap between her movie and the present day. They've been wanting to expand out from their Phases 1-3 routine and are in the process of doing that right now.
